A Spa therapist’s career revolves around clients suffering from physical pain and mental stress. A spa therapist does massage therapies like oil massages, body scrubs, therapeutic baths, etc. A spa therapist can pursue his career in spas and in salons too as they excel in skin care services too like facials, makeups, pedicure, manicure, waxing, etc. Some high-end services are provided by spa therapists like hydrotherapy, reflexology, aromatherapy, electrotherapy, etc. Spa therapist’s career has a very high stature and its a respectable job which includes providing relief from pain. The career can also be termed as social work which is well cherished in the society.

What they actually do?

A Spa therapist’s main job is to heal the client’s pain by giving body massages. head, foot, and body massages are given to the clients according to their requirements. They excel at the art of treating the body, mind and the soul. For getting relief from anxiety, depression, stress, and exhaustion, the clients demand head massages. Some of the massages offered by spa therapists are Hot stone massage, Aromatherapy massage, Sports massage, Trigger point massage, Shiatsu massage, Thai massage, Prenatal massage, Couple’s massage, Chair massage. Apart from these,
hydrotherapy, reflexology, aromatherapy, electrotherapy are also provided. They use lotions, aromas, creams, medicated herbal oils, stones on the client’s body, head and face according to the defined treatment techniques.

Experienced Spa therapists can work abroad and in big resorts where they can earn good amount of money. One can start their own business venture too.

Learning cost and Salary

One can enroll in Spa therapist course in the local salons or institutes. The basic courses start from 5K INR. certificate courses are available at 10-15K INR. Big institutes charges around 30K INR. Freshers can earn upto 20K INR per month. Experienced professionals earn 35K+ INR per month.
